mp3 Recording

mp3 recorder

You can download the mp3 recorder here. To install it on your computer, download the file to your desktop and double click on it. Then a window will appear- click setup and continue through the installation.

recorder setup

The mp3 recorder comes set to make very high quality recordings; that means that the files it creates will be big. To make the files smaller and easier to upload to Toolkit, you should change the settings as soon as you have installed it. Click on settings, then set the bit rate to 64 and the quality to low.

The button above settings is source. Your source should be set to microphone.

The red button will start your recording, and after you start a stop and play button will appear. When you are finished, click on save as mp3, and then choose the folder you will save in on your computer. To upload the file to Toolkit, see the directions on this site's Toolkit Support page.

microphone

You will definitely need a microphone to make a recording! Look at the back or side of your computer for your sound card. There should be a port to plug a mic in, it may look like the picture to the left.

If you do not have a sound card on your computer, you can't make recordings.

When you record your voice, if the recording is too loud or too quiet, you can adjust the recording volume by clicking on the source button and adjusting recording volume. You can see your voice level on the right side of the mp3 recorder- red is too high, but bouncing in yellow is good.
