Speaking and Pronunciation Phonetics Flash Animation Project An interesting site with animated videos showing how sounds are pronounced in English. Sounds of English Provides in-depth instructions on how to pronounce sounds in English. University of Minnesota Common Questions A site for foreign T.A.s to practice their classroom dialogue. It plays audio recordings of "common questions" asked by students, and then quizzes you on the appropriate answers. Writing Purdue's Writing Lab Purdue's OWL site has a number of useful resources for helping students to improve their writing skills. Indiana University Guide to Plagiarism Some information on what plagiarism is, and how to avoid it. Academic Grammar A guide for ESL students writing essays or papers. Plenty of helpful information about academic writing. Presentation on Writing Research Papers A PowerPoint presentation on how to structure a research paper (PowerPoint required; you can download the free viewer software here). Listening Randall's ESL Cyber Listening Lab A site that offers a number of audio recordings, and quizzes you on the contents. BBC Learning English A collection of news stories and vocabulary lessons based on BBC news stories and British popular culture, intended for ESL students. California Distance Learning Project A collection of audio recordings and stories for ESL students to practice their listening comprehension skills. Grammar English Grammar on the Web A list of links to various ESL grammar sites, organized according to skill level. Grammar Check A collection of grammar quizzes, organized according to topic. Useful for students to practice with. Dr. Grammar's ESL Resources Another good list of links for ESL students. Resources for ESL Teachers About.com: English as 2nd Language Provides a wide variety of information for both ESL students and teachers, from grammar explanations to sample quizzes. There's a lot of useful information here, though you might have to dig for it (use the menu on the left to get started). EnglishClub.com Another comprehensive ESL site - has a little bit of everything. Useful for both students and teachers. Internet TESL Journal An online journal for ESL instructors.
