The following sites are links to technology resources here at the University of Virginia:
Click on the above link to access the ITC home page. This is a very important resource for computing at the University of Virginia. Among the most important links is a page which details instructor-specific computing services offered by ITC. ASCITArts and Sciences Center for Instructional Technology ASCIT is the Arts and Sciences Center for Instructional Technology and includes both the language lab and the equipment loan service on the second floor of Newcomb Hall. ASCIT provides an image scanning service to foreign language instructors (for those images to be used in the classroom) as well as a sound digitizing service. AMELC instructors have worked very closely with this center over the years and we continue to receive a great deal of our technological support from ASCIT. The Electronic Text Center is located on the third floor of Alderman Library (west wing). Since 1992, it has been a focal point for humanities computing at UVa, providing training and project management expertise, access to equipment that permits the creation and analysis of electronic texts, and a place in which to use the electronic texts that are not available on-line (such as those on CD-ROM). Teaching and Technology Initiative (TTI) The Teaching and Technology Initiative at the University of Virginia is a partnership between the Office of the Vice President for Information Technology and Communication and the Office of the Vice President and Provost. TTI is administered jointly by ITC's Instructional Technology Group and The Teaching Resource Center. The people involved in the administration of the TTI come from various academic and administrative units throughout the University. Both TTI fellows (like Bob Hueckstedt in 2001) and your TTSP are funded by this initiative. <Digital Lab> Digital Media Lab The Digital Media Lab is located on the 3rd floor of Clemons Library. This lab is an incredible resource - there are very few univeristies in the US which offer such a lab to students and faculty. The Digital Media Lab offers a number of services including assistance in project planning, database building, web-site building, tutorials and short courses (on such applications as Photoshop, Dreamweaver, audio editing, images and scanning, using a digital video camera, Flash, video editing, Web audio &video, 3D modelling, etc.). There are beginner and advanced classes alike. Apart from short courses, you can schedule a time by calling and reserving a computer and lab staff are always there to assist you. The lab also loans out digital video cameras and other equipment. TRC The Teaching Resource Center The Teaching Resource Center (TRC), established in 1990, offers a number of services and resource materials designed to enhance the teaching abilities of faculty and teaching assistants at the University of Virginia. The TRC also administers several special programs, recognizing the skills and accomplishments of faculty and aiding in the development of courses. _____________________________________________________________________________ Software Requests for ITC Labs and Classrooms. | |||||||||
