This capital includes the martyrdom of Saint Peter and the story of Saint Paul.
Peter was crucified upside-down; according to many accounts, this was done at his own request, so that he would not be confused with Christ.
Saint Paul began his story as Saul, a persecuter of Christians, who then had an experience of Christ. He replaced Judas as the twelfth apostle, sent to the Gentiles.

Biblical source: The conversion of Paul: Acts 9:3-9 (the vision itself), Acts 22:6-11 (repeated as his defense to the people of Jerusalem), and Acts 26:12-19 (repeated in defense to King Agrippa).

The martyrdom legends are non-Biblical.

Acts 9:3-9

3 Now as he [Saul] journeyed he approached Damascus, and suddenly a light from heaven flashed about him.
4 And he fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, "Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?"
5 And he said, " Who are you, Lord?" And he said, "I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting;
6 but rise and enter the city, and you will be told what you are to do."
7 The men who were traveling with him stood speechless, hearing the voice but seeing no one.
8 Saul arose from the ground; and when his eyes were opened, he could see nothing; so they led him by the hand and brought him to Damascus.
9 And for three days he was without sight, and neither ate nor drank.
