Simulation 3: Liquid Conductivity
Some materials have a certain amount of
conductivity, or ability to conduct electricity. The conductivity
of a material is the opposite of its resistivity, or resistance.
These materials can take either solid or liquid form. In the
window demonstration, a beaker of conductive material is used to
complete the circuit. By modifying the liquid level, study the
effect of the liquid level on the voltage. What does this imply
about the conductivity of air? Also, include salt or acid in the
liquid and determine the effect (to do so, just click on NaCl for
salt or the test tube for acid).
