Differences Between Invention and Design

Processes

Rigorous-- Design; invention less so?

Head vs. hands (inventor)

Designer has specific goal-- set of constraints

Goal of inventor-- invent the constraints.

Designer-- pocket protector; inventor-- wild haired, crosseyed?

Is there any way to teach invention?

Designers-- follow rules? The "Masters" know when to violate the rules.
