Proposal Check-List

 

_____ Name of technical advisor.

_____ Abstract (no more than 100 words)--in NSF format, this takes the form of a brief summary

_____ Significance--who cares about this area of research?

_____ Impact--who will benefit? Will any group be harmed or inconvenienced? Consider a cascade of both positive and  negative impacts, spreading like ripples from your thesis and the larger project of which it is a part.

_____ Objectives--list your goals--be as specific as possible.

_____ Methods--how are you going to achieve these goals? What procedures will you use? Be specific.

_____ Schedule--be as detailed as possible. A Gantt Chart or other graphic is recommended.

_____ Expected outcomes--what deliverables besides a thesis will you produce?

_____ Qualifications--how do you know you will be able to accomplish these goals?

_____ Will you need any special consultants? Are you working as part of a group?

_____ Equipment & Resources--will you need any special equipment, supplies or resources? If so, how will you get access to them?

_____ Annotated bibliography--you can use any format you want, as long as it is internally consistent and provides enough information for anyone to locate your sources. Write a couple of sentences about each source. You can include sources you do not cite in your text.
