Job opportunity

Dear VELLA Members:

I received the following information from a UVa Law grad who would like to
hire someone for a labor-side practice in Florida. Please reply directly to
Noah Scott Warman if you are interested.

Regards,

Rip

We are looking for a third year student or recent graduate to practice labor
and employment law. Our firm, Sugarman & Susskind, is located in Coral
Gables, Florida. We represent labor unions and pension funds in both the
public and private sectors throughout Florida, as well as employment law on
behalf of employees. We are looking for a "utility infielder" - a person
familiar with labor, employment, and pension (ERISA) law. The workload is
about one-third of each.

Ideally our candidate has taken ERISA / employee benefits, labor law, and
employment law; if not ERISA, at least administrative law and tax courses.
We need a hard-working, quick-learning person with strong research and
writing skills and a commitment to the labor movement, the former being a
given at Virginia, the latter somewhat more dubious . . . The position is
ideal for a person who wants exposure to all aspects of representing labor
unions and their members quickly. The best and the worst aspect of the job
is the same thing - we expect our new attorneys to hit the ground running,
and our attorneys gain a lot of responsibility quickly. Connections to
South Florida are a plus, but not essential.

S&S is a six-person firm with two UVA grads who have a strong preference for
another UVA alum. Our office has a relaxed and collegial atmosphere - ties
are rarely worn. The pay is competitive for labor-side firms (though not
what one would make working for the dark side), with good health and pension
benefits and reasonable hours.

Any questions should be directed to Noah Scott Warman at 800-329-2122 or
warman@bellsouth.net. Feel free to send cover letters and resumes via
e-mail either in the body of the e-mail itself or as an attachment in MS
Word format.

I sincerely hope we can find a UVA'er to fill this spot. I know that most
of the pro-employer group should be gainfully employed by this point in
time, but I was still interviewing at this point in my final semester at
UVA - and it paid off wonderfully.

Thanks very much for your assistance and any students you refer to us. Take
care -
