Dear Vella Members,

Welcome back to school.  I hope you all had a great winter 
break.  I have received a request from Dean Emery for 
volunteers to work with Rip Verkerke on a pro bono project. 
Rip will supervise a team of students who will work on 
revising the "unemployment benefits" section of the 
Virginia Practice Manual, produced by the Virginia Poverty 
Law Center in Richmond.  The project would involve updating 
the existing version which was done in 1994.  Dean Emery 
assures me the time committment is flexible and student's 
schedules can be easily accommodated.  Please contact her 
in the Public Interest Center as soon as possible if you 
are interested.

Jodi and I will be in touch soon about planning Vella 
activities for the spring.  Anyone interested in a social
