"Optimistic Virginia Scott
Awaits November Court Decision"
While one might agree that Scott (the only woman of the four named in the ACLU vs. The University of Virginia lawsuit to take advantage of the injunction allowing her to study in 1969) lacks some social graces, this article portrays her as the "anti-UVa devil". The framing of her comments makes her the underminer of all things good at UVa. The Cavalier Daily, 10/03/69
"Court Orders Coeducation
Plan"
The Virginia Circuit Court decides to wait in making its decision in the Virginia Scott and ACLU case until the University reports a definite implementation plan. The Cavalier Daily, 10/01/69
"UVa Enrolls One of Four
Women Involved in Suit"
Virginia Scott, along with 3 other women represented by the ACLU, bring suit against the University for discriminatory admissions policies. The court forced the University to admit the women in the fall of 1969, their ability to remain as students contingent upon an ACLU victory in the September hearing. Only Scott took advantage of this provision. Note the excessive reference to these women as girls. The Daily Progress, 9/09/69
