Berlin Blockade Ends, On May 12, 1949, at the Rhein-Main Air Base in Frankfurt, Germany, base personnel had just received news that the blockade was over. After long negotiations with the U.S., the Soviet Union lifted the blockade in favor of diplomatic resolutions among the Four Powers to questions relating to Germany. Source: D.M.
