| Masculinity and the New Deal, This 1940 Wilfred J. Mead photograph depicts a CCC enrollee cracking rocks for park retaining walls and gutter bases. Mead's image reflected one of the CCC's main slogans, "We can take it!". The CCC used Mead's photographs extensively due to their schematic quality and Mead's themes of both nature and technical advancement.
