Are You 100% American? State officials commissioned compelling war propaganda in order to sell bonds, patriotism, and unity. While the government needed to raise revenue through the bonds, these sales also gave officials the chance to promote their notion of true "Americanism," as in this 1918 propaganda poster, to persuade against the suspected disloyalty of foreign-born Americans.
