New York City Elites, c.1910, The high society of New York was comprised of influential elites such as these guests at Harrison Grey Fiske's elaborate dinner. Fiske was the editor of the drama magazine the New York Mirror. A notable drama critic and playwright, Fiske produced some of the most significant New York plays in the early twentieth century. Cultural, financial, and political elites overlapped to form New York City's high society and support the development of cultural and economic institutions in the city.
