Copperheads -- by Werner Sensbaugh

This installation attempts to combine the features of printmaking, sculpture and landscape. To this end, this project propses to place deeply etched copperplates of human heads amongst the evergreen shrubbery at the base of a brick staircase leading to Bayly Garden.

The copperheads, one and a half foot high, dangle from a wire branch, mingling with its leafy and stony neighbors. In this wise the installation reflects the modern double dilemma of transience and permanence.
