| At the composting facility, municipal solid waste (msw) collected from the public, is separated, sifted, and sorted into organic material and recyclables. The organics are digested in large vats for about four days. Afterwards, the digested compost is laid out in windrows. The recyclable material will be placed in the collection bins located between the two types of composting fields. The other compost field will consist of yard waste and other vegetative wastes dropped off by the public. The soil generated by the cured compost will be used for additional cover on the experimental plots to support the growth of more mature trees. |
