A Streetcar Named Desire
by Tennessee Williams

Production Notes

Light, sound, scenery, and stylized movement unite to create the layered, harsh, often terrifying world of Streetcar as seen through the sensitive eyes of Blanche DuBois. Light defines Blanche's journey into madness, allowing the layered scenery to solidify or dissolve into a world of overlapping shadows. At moments Blanche is caught as if in the glare of the headlights of an oncoming train. Some scenes are tense, electrified, edged in high contrasts, while others allow the softness of tender moments of isolation. Always there is the unending heat, and the recurring image of the young man.
