Dear VELLA members:

To those of you I have not had the good fortune to meet 
yet, I am Kate McDaniel.  I am a 1L (who is very much 
looking forward to being a 2L!) and am very interested in 
Employment Law.  I have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of 
VELLA this year and want very much to continue and build on 
the good work done by Dana, Jody, Karen and Ken this year. 
As part of my commitment to the group, I would like to 
serve VELLA in the capacity of Vice President next year. I 
believe it is very important to keep this exciting and 
burgeoning area of law visible to the Virginia Law 
community.  

My undergraduate degree from the University of Richmond has 
a concentration in Human Resource Management and I worked 
for a Fortune 500 company in Richmond for more years than I 
will admit to!  My position gave me exposure to many labor 
and employment issues and served to fuel my interest in 
Employment Law.  I have had lots of experience in leading 
teams, managing projects and interacting at all levels.

I have been working this semester on a pro-bono project for 
Rip and look forward to doing more next year. I know Rip 
has some additional employment projects in mind and would 
love some additional VELLA volunteers!  We are very 
fortunate as an organization to have such great faculty 
support.

Thanks so much for "listening" and I look forward to the 
possibility of serving VELLA next year in this important
